What Does it Mean to Be Human? 2025 Trend Predictions 🔮

As we step into 2025, the conversation about technology and humanity grows more urgent and nuanced. Many predictions focus on the rise of human-centered content as a response to AI’s dominance, but what does that really mean?

Here’s my take on where we’re headed and what it means for brands, businesses, and creatives:

Breaking the Screen: The Blur of Online and Offline Life

The boundary between our screens and real life is dissolving. Experiential tech will continue to advance, creating seamless integrations of online and offline experiences. Brands will lead with campaigns, in-person experiences and products that reflect this multidimensional reality.

I know what you're thinking. Yes, I AM biased on this one butttt.. as evidenced in early 2024 by Hailey Bieber's Rhode/Lip Gloss phone case... these campaigns are already taking place.

Expect more.

Another Creative Awakening

Yes, anotha one.

2025 will challenge the concept of originality. With 300 million creators optimizing for algorithms, the tension between authenticity and external pressures will push us toward a renaissance of self-expression. AI-driven startups and tools will enable hyper-customization, shifting software from utility to accessory for reclaiming individuality.

Controversy Drives Global Connection

The potential TikTok ban and the overnight success of Red Note are sparking interest in cultural exchanges with different nations. Many users, disillusioned with current social media platforms, have downloaded Red Note and started learning Mandarin through the app. Public interest will prompt usage of AI-powered translation tools to break down language barriers. This opens up a new frontier for creators and businesses, allowing them to reach and build community with previously inaccessible global audiences.

Connection Over Consumption

Community and customer marketing will rise as people seek belonging and meaning amidst rapid technological shifts. We will see new features that provide next-level engagement metrics, influencing an eventual shift in where brands invest their marketing dollars online.

Curiosity Campaigns (Context is the New Currency)

As content floods our feeds, campaigns that ignite curiosity will stand out. The brands that magnetize attention by inviting participation and sparking interest will dominate. Movement building—allowing people to align with missions and values—will foster deeper engagement.

Intentional Technology will Influence Mainstream Culture

2025 will bring a wave of startups and tech features focused on closing the gaps in emotional and social well-being. From tools addressing burnout and ADHD to platforms fostering community, these innovations will work. People will feel connected and empowered by these new tools. This will show that we can resolve issues with technology through intentional design. As environmental and social issues get worse, there will be a louder conversation in mainstream culture around what is possible with technology.

So ... What Does it Mean to Be Human?

More specifically, what does it mean to be a human with multiple AI subscriptions and (potentially) no access to TikTok???

2025 is going to push us to rethink how we live, work, and create in a world where technology shapes and influences every aspect of our lives.

Those who lean into creativity, connection, and curiosity will set the tone for a future that feels more intentional and aligned with what really matters.
